What a house removal in Wells actually involves
Most Wells moves start with working out the access, not the packing. We turn up with the Luton box van loaded with blankets, straps and a sack truck, wrap and pad your furniture before it moves an inch, and do the lifting, the loading and the carry-in at the other end. A straight move within the city is often done in a few hours; a full family home naturally takes longer — which is exactly why the honest hourly rate suits it, because you only pay for the time the job really takes.
Parking and access in the medieval centre
The middle of Wells was laid out centuries before the Luton van existed. Streets around the Market Place, Sadler Street and Cathedral Green are narrow, much of the centre is permit or short-stay parking, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays the market fills the Market Place. Some addresses — the cottages around Vicars' Close being the famous example — can't take a vehicle at the door at all, so the sack truck does the last stretch. We ask about all of this when you book, plan where the van sits, and time the day around it.
Moving to or from the villages
Half our Wells work isn't in the city itself but the ring of villages around it — Coxley and Polsham on the Glastonbury road, Croscombe and Dinder in the valley toward Shepton, Wookey and Wookey Hole to the west, and Westbury-sub-Mendip and Easton strung along the A371 under the hills. Village moves bring their own quirks: single-track lanes, low branches, and cottages a barrow-walk from the nearest hard standing. One person or two for your move?
A flat or a lightly-furnished couple of rooms is usually fine with one person at £75 an hour. A full two- or three-bed house, heavy oak furniture, white goods, or a steep cottage staircase is quicker and safer with two people at £110 — two sets of hands halve the awkward lifts and usually cost less overall because the hours drop. Longer moves — Bristol, Bath and beyond
Wells sits about 40 minutes from both Bristol and Bath, and longer runs are regular work: students up to Bristol, families relocating along the A39 and A37, and full moves to London or the south coast. It's the same van and the same hourly rate — the driving time and mileage are simply worked into the quote fairly from our base, so you can see exactly where the cost comes from before you commit.
Keeping your moving day quick and cheap
The van time is what you pay for, so preparation is money in your pocket: boxes packed, sealed and stacked by the door, drawers emptied on heavy chests, and a parking space held outside if your street allows it.
